  • Movie B.S. - Episode 59

This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider: "Bridesmaids" is quite funny! And raunchy, and has ladies instead of men! "Priest," which wasn't screened before it opened, is mediocre at best. • Movie B.S. - Episode 58

This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider, 'tis the season for summer movies. We start with talking about "Thor." He's the god of thunder, and now he's mixed in with The Avengers clan. Next, Jeff saw "Jumping the Broom" while Eric tried, but failed. Finally, the boys sat through "Something Borrowed" and explain why you shouldn't. Then, it's all about summer movies. First, Jeff and Eric pick their most anticipated movies of the summer, with a twist. Then, they play a summer box office game that could lead to Eric shaving his beard. We need more suggestions for what Jeff should have to do if he loses, and what Eric should do if he loses. • Movie B.S. - Episode 56

This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider ... Bayer is back. He has returned from Africa, to grace the listeners with his presence. In his honor, Snider decided not to see any of the movies that were released this week. Well, that's not exactly true. Bayer saw "Water for Elephants" starring Robert Pattinson, Christoph Waltz and Reese Witherspoon. The backdrop of the 1930s circus was his favorite part, the other stuff ... not bad. The boys play a rousing game of Interquel, perhaps the best ever. The movies "Se7en" and "Inception" were used in the making of it. The QOTW is "What is your favorite drive-in theater experience?" • Movie B.S. - Episode 54

On this week's very special edition of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider, Jeff Bayer is in Africa, doing goodness knows what, but do not fear! He and Eric D. Snider pre-taped some stuff before he left, so the show still has your recommended daily allowance of Bayer. They both liked "Hanna" pretty well. In the studio, Mike Russell (@culturepulp on Twitter) and Snider agreed that "Arthur" is passable but nothing special. Via Skype, Matt Patches (@misterpatches) told us about "Soul Surfer," and he and Snider expressed their disappointment in "Your Highness." Then: pre-taped Pitch Me, with Henry Winkler and Natalie Portman! And all was well in the land. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs054.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 53

Things are about to get all emotional up in here as Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider celebrates their one-year anniversary! They decide to break from the norm, and for a change this week they'll be reviewing movies. First up is "Source Code," which both of them decidedly gave good Gyllenhaal. Next up, Eric saw the horror flick "Insidious" and Bayer did not. But don't worry, they both sat through "Hop" so you don't have to. Finally, Portland got "Win Win" starring Paul Giamatti, so the boys talk about it. Plus, there were tons of great responses for the QOTW "What was your best movie moment that you would want to relive?" This week's QOTW is to win a copy of "TRON: Legacy" and it's a bit of trivia ... what episode to the current Movie B.S. theme song debut? Send your answers to one of the following. Bayer is off to Africa (seriously) but don't worry, there is a new show next week. That's just the power of the internet! email - moviebspdx@gmail.com facebook - facebook.com/moviebspdx twitter - @moviebs [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs053.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. – Episode 51

This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider ... it's the most chaotic show we've ever done! [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs051.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 50

Your old pals Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider are off to Austin for South By Southwest, but that didn't stop them from delivering a piping-hot new edition of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider first! All the movies this week are about aliens and monsters and stuff. "Battle Los Angeles" offers good action, too much shaky-cam, and war-movie cliches. "Red Riding Hood" is stupid. "Mars Needs Moms" is flat and lifeless. B & S also play a game of Interquel that gets dark and weird, announce the winners of last week's propaganda contest, and add a few new agents to the Movie B.S. census. QOTW: What movie alien would you most like to find in your back yard, and why? (Note: No humanoids, e.g., Luke Skywalker.) Send your answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com, or post at facebook.com/moviebspdx. If you're in Austin for SXSW, keep an eye on Twitter -- @MovieBS, @EricDSnider, @BayerJeff -- for a meet-up. The pre-Oscars edition of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider has a special guest: Paul Tamasy, who's nominated for an Academy Award for writing "The Fighter"! An actual Oscar nominee, on our stupid little show! Paul tells us about the process of researching and writing "The Fighter," of working with Christian Bale and David O. Russell, and of his previous cinematic legacy, which was writing "Air Bud." [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs048.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 47

This week, film critic's Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider talk about movies! First up, "Unknown" starring Liam Neeson and January Jones is not that bad, or pretty good, depending on how you look at it. "I am Number Four" is a sci-fi movie that Eric and Jeff have slightly different opinions on, tune in to listen to the tension! [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs047.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 46

In this week's edition of "Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider," Jeff and Eric agree that the best option for Valentine's Day weekend is "The Eagle." Not that it's romantic, it just isn't terrible. "Just Go with It" and "Gnomeo & Juliet," on the other hand, are not pleasing to the senses. In limited release, "The Company Men," starring Ben Affleck and Tommy Lee Jones as newly unemployed white-collar guys, is worth checking out. Bayer and Snider also read your QOTW answers and give a new QOTW: What living actor or filmmaker would you most want to interview, and what would be the one question you'd have to ask if you did? Send your responses to moviebspdx@gmail.com, or post 'em at www.facebook.com/moviebspdx. Finally, the guys give a few recommendations on what to see at the Portland International Film Festival, or PIFF, as the cool kids call it. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs046.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 44

This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider, Eric is once again off gallivanting (and watching movies) at the Sundance Film Festival. We bring in Mike Russell from the Oregonian to discuss Jason Statham's new action movie "The Mechanic." After he leaves, Jeff quickly runs through "The Rite" starring Anthony Hopkins (in a supporting role). Jeff wasn't too keen on either one of them. After that it's all things Oscar, talking about those films and people who missed out on a nomination, as well as Eric's good times in Sundance. We also say goodbye to our Winnipeg fan (thanks to Kevin Smith), so now our Winnipeg is up for grabs and worth a free Blu-ray. Plus, send it your answers to the QOTW "What two women would you like to see star in a film together, and what would it be about?" Our favorite answer will get a DVD/Blu-ray. Send those answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com and follow us on Facebook.com/MovieBSpdx. I said good day. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs044.mp3]

[audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs042.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. – Episode 41

Bayer and Snider ring in the new year in the traditional fashion, i.e., with a couple of movies that aren't very good. "Season of the Witch" is dumb but fun; "Country Strong" is dumb and not fun. Bayer didn't care much for "Casino Jack," either, though he was intrigued by the vegan documentary "Forks Over Knives." (Snider didn't see those two.) The guys also interviewed the director of "Hood to Coast," a documentary about the famous Oregon relay race, which you can watch on Tuesday, Jan. 11. Visit www.hoodtocoastmovie.com for more info. Your QOTW: What movie would be improved if it had a superhero in it. Explain your answers. Send them to: moviebspdx@gmail.com, or visit www.facebook.com/moviebspdx. Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider are back live! We're talking about two really good films that hit the screens this week: 'The Social Network' and 'Let Me In.' Both decided 'The Social Network' is a must see. Then, since we were gone last week it was time for rapid-fire reviews. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs027.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 26

This week's episode pays tribute to a time-honored cop-out device: the clip show. Bayer and Snider are both out of town this week and weren't able to pre-tape a new show before they went their separate ways, so here's a compilation of moments from previous episodes that perhaps are not entirely unamusing. Enjoy this trip down memory lane, won't you? [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs026.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 25

In this week's edition of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider it is revealed that Ben Affleck is a good director and actor and we shouldn't make fun of him anymore. "The Town" is solid cops-and-robbers fun! Also fun is "Easy A," a teen satire, though Bayer and Snider differed on just how much fun it is. They agreed that "Devil" -- not screened for critics, so they had to catch it at midnight Thursday night, like chumps -- isn't worth your time. There was further discussion of Joaquin Phoenix's "I'm Still Here," recently revealed as a performance rather than a documentary, and the boys played a rousing, perhaps doomed game of Interquel involving "Outbreak" and "Spider-Man." Send your comments, suggestions, and sacrificial offerings to moviebspdx@gmail.com. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs025.mp3]

  • Move B.S. with Bayer and Snider - Episode 24: 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' and more

This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider the boys had to go see a midnight screening of "Resident Evil: Afterlife" in 3D, because that's the kind of dedicated film critics they are. The 3D is great, the movie is crap. Then, Bayer tries to talk to Snider about "I'm Still Here" without giving away any details. It's difficult. The last film they review is "Centurion" (they did not save the best for last). The boys also recap their Top 5 movies of the summer, and Snider talks about his trip to the Telluride Film Festival. Plus, there was enough time to play Pitch Me, this week starring Betty White and Dan Aykroyd. The QOTW this week is "most memorable movie accent?" in tribute to "The Town." • Movie B.S. - Episode 23

The first fall episode of "Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider" has many exciting treats! For one thing, Dawn Taylor -- of PDX.fm's "Ham-Fisted Radio" and "Legion of News" -- visits Jeff and Eric for the entire hour, to discuss "Machete," "The American," and "Going the Distance," and also to play Pitch Me, and also to eat a bagel. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs023.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 22

Snider's birthday was pretty much the most important topic on "Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider" this week, with the movies "The Last Exorcism" (good) and "Takers" (not so good) taking second place. Jeff and Eric also discussed listeners' favorite scary scenes from movies, a large number of which came from "Signs" and "The Ring." And Jeff met John Malkovich! And then told a story about it. Next QOTW: Who is your favorite movie couple? We're talking romance here, or at least the possibility of romance. Send your answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs022.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 21

There are five films in wide release and Bayer and Snider didn't have time to see them all. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs021.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 20

There are plenty of new movies to talk about on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider this week, including the excellent "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." Jeff and Eric could spend the whole hour talking about this inventive, funny, groundbreaking movie. (They don't.) "Eat Pray Love," on the other hand, is way too long and way too self-indulgent, though fans of the book might dig it. "The Expendables" has some fun action but isn't as good as a movie with this cavalcade of action stars should be. In limited release, "Get Low" is worth checking out. Jeff and Eric play Pitch Me in honor of Friday the 13th. QOTW: Tell us about movies that you think are really good, but that disturbed you in an emotional or visceral way when you watched them. E-mail moviebspdx@gmail.com. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs020.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 19

It's a moist day at the PDX.fm studios as Jeff and Eric present another sweaty edition of "Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider. "The Other Guys" is pretty solid Will Ferrell comedy if you ask Snider; quite a bit less solid if you ask Bayer. Snider sort of has a Will Ferrell thing, though. There's a discussion of the listeners' favorite cop movies, and Bayer is a little upset that people give a big list when we only asked for ONE. The guys dip into the mailbag to address some theme song-related questions, and they also play a new game! It's called Interquel! Some innuendo occurs. The next QOTW: What are your favorite guy movies (in honor of "The Expendables")? E-mail moviebspdx@gmail.com. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs019.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 18

Welcome to another fun-filled episode of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider. The boys talk about "Dinner for Schmucks" starring Paul Rudd and Steve Carell. They agree on most things, especially Carell stealing the show. "Charlie St. Cloud" with Zac Efron is not awful. Surprising, isn't it? Snider sat through "Cat and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore" and didn't mind it. But then all things turned to "Eureka" with special guest star Jaime Paglia. He's the executive producer and writer of the Syfy show in its fourth season. We talk James Callis, Wil Wheaton and what goes into making the show. Plus, Paglia joins the boys in "Pitch Me." The QOTW for next week's show is "Favorite Cop Movie." Email your answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs018.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 17

Jeff and Eric recommend a low-"Salt" diet on this week's edition of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider. "Ramona and Beezus," on the other hand, is a cute and sweet movie that you could take the kids to. "Winter's Bone" is a solid indie drama that you should not take the kids to, unless they like movies about hillbilly meth farmers. Jeff and Eric also discuss their favorite books from childhood, an upcoming casual meet-up at Ground Kontrol, Jeff's over-indulgence at yesterday's Brewfest, and Eric's mother's bladder. QOTW for next week: What's a movie that you drastically changed your opinion of, either from love to hate or hate to love? E-mail moviebspdx@gmail.com [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs017.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 16

Good news, everyone! "Inception," which Eric and Jeff both had pegged as their most-anticipated film of the summer, turned out to be fantastic. They talk about it -- spoiler-free -- in this week's Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider. They also discuss "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," which is reasonably fun family entertainment, and "The Kids Are All Right," which is good but not for the whole family. Then there's a new game, SwitchFix; discussion of the QOTW (most disappointing films), and a new QOTW for next week: What were your favorite books as a kid ('cause "Ramona and Beezus" is coming out)? E-mail moviebspdx@gmail.com. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs016.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 15

This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider, both of our fearless critics sit down to watch "Predators" and have a pretty good time in the process. "Despicable Me" starring Steve Carell's voice has moments, but not much else. Bayer talks about "The Girl Who Played With Fire," but Snider remains silent since he still hasn't seen "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo." Then is a big, heaping pile of mail bag as they answer the QOTW and other questions from our readers. We're still taking game suggestions and our new QOTW is "What movie were you most excited about, and then it turned out terrible?" Email that to moviebspdx@gmail.com. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs015.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 14

Jeff and Eric have a lot to say not just about movies but about certain movies' fans, in this week's edition of "Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider." "Eclipse" is the best of the three "Twilight" movies so far -- but don't tell that to people who hate all things "Twilight," no matter what, always, forever! "The Last Airbender" is a stifling and terrible adaptation of a popular cartoon series -- but don't tell that to people who love the cartoon series and can't bear the thought of the movie being bad! ("Cyrus" is good, though. Go see it.) Jeff and Eric also discuss press junkets and the whoredom thereof, teen romances, and next week's QOTW: What's a movie you love that it seems like everyone else hates? They want new ideas for games to play, too. E-mail them at moviebspdx@gmail.com. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs014.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 13

It's our lucky 13th episode on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider. We start the show talking about how Eric's friend Kourtney was unlucky at last night's Portland Beavers game. Once we finally get to movie talk, with both agree "Knight and Day" is a good time at the movies this summer. "Grown Ups" is barely worth talking about, but we still manage. Last week's Pitch Me gets the best title ever ("Carbon Night") and this week's includes Kate Winslet, Bill Pullman and special guest star Colin Firth. Our QOTW (Question of the week) is "What is your favorite teen romance?" Email your answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs013.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 12

Jeff and Eric have great news to report in this episode of "Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider": After several weeks of so-so releases, there's finally a truly great film. It's called "Jonah Hex." No, just kidding, "Jonah Hex" is lousy. But "Toy Story 3" is brilliant! They also answer the QOTW and pose a new one -- what's your favorite immature comedy? -- and talk to Jeff's dad for Fathers Day. Plus there's Fixer & Defender, Pitch Me, and assorted merriment. Send e-mails to moviebspdx@gmail.com! [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs012.mp3]

  • MOVIE B.S. - Episode 11

It's 1984 all over again this week on "Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider." They agree on the two big releases this week. "The Karate Kid" is worth the time, even though it runs a little long. "The A-Team" on the other hand, is a little messy and doesn't do anything particularly well. Pitch Me unites Sylvester Stallone and Tim Allen in "Witch Doctor?" Plus Fixer & Defender is back with "Star Trek III: The Search For Spock." We answer the QOTW (Question of the Week) and give you a new one ... What is the best Part 3 in movie history? Email answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs011.mp3]

  • Move B.S. - Episode 10

"Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider" hits the double digits this week -- show number 10! In celebration, Eric and Jeff agree that "Get Him to the Greek" is the best offering of new films this week, and that "Killers" should be left dead on the floor. They haven't seen "Marmaduke," but come on. Eric loves the creepy and insane "Splice," while Jeff adamantly does not; there is debate. Also, Robin Williams' career is revived in "Pitch Me," and listeners are given a new assignment in Question of the Week: tell us your favorite remakes. E-mail us at moviebspd@gmail.com [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs010.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 9

In a shocking turn of events, Jeff actually succeeded in getting a guest for "Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider"! It was John Solomon, a "Saturday Night Live" writer, and co-writer of the "MacGruber" movie, which Jeff and Eric both liked a lot, and not just because they were having John Solomon on the show. He talked about writing for "SNL," and about the disappointing "MacGruber" box office. He also helped Jeff and Eric with "Pitch Me," coming up with a fantastic Western romance. Oh, and "Sex and the City 2" isn't very good, and "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" is so-so, the end. E-mail us at moviebspdx@gmail.com. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs009.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 8

Welcome to the season finale of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider. In this week's show the two agree that "MacGruber" is not, in fact, the waste of time you think it is. It's pretty dang funny. They disagree on "Shrek Forever After" or "Shrek The Final Chapter" or whatever it's called and give quick reviews for "The Square," "Mother and Child" and "The Human Centipede. The two attempt to fix last week's debacle of "Pitch Me" with help from the viewers and in a season finale twist no one say coming, the show has a mortal enemy. Stay tuned for next week as Season Two begins at the exact same time, and the exact same place. Email questions to moviebspdx@gmail.com [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs008.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 7

It's a sad day for Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider, on account of all the movies this week are lousy. "Robin Hood": long and slow. "Letters to Juliet": pretty generic rom-com. "Just Wright": just wrong. Still, Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider managed to disagree on the extent to which each of the movies is bad. Then they talked about "The Apple," a futuristic musical from 1980; played a depressing round of Pitch Me involving Carrot Top and Ben Affleck; and read some viewer mail. Speaking of which, send them some e-mails at moviebspdx@gmail.com! [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs007.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 6

It's officially summertime. Trust us, we're movie critics. This week on Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider we talk about the first big summer blockbuster, "Iron Man 2" starring Robert Downey Jr. and a slew of other famous faces. We both agree you'll have a good time, but won't be blown away. Bayer tells everyone, including Snider, to go see Oscar winner "The Secret in Their Eyes," and both critics understand babies are cute, but the movie "Babies" grows tiresome. Our first guest joins Movie B.S. and it's Momma Snider! Plus, a summer movie preview, a rousing game of "Fixer and Defender," and we dive into the B.S. mail bag for the first time. Email your questions to moviebspdx@gmail.com. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs006.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 5

In a turn of events no one could have foreseen, the remake of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" is terrible! So say Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider both in this episode of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider. And while neither of them saw "Furry Vengeance," they're pretty sure it's terrible, too, and Eric offers some tips on how to tell the two movies apart. There's also some talk of the Tribeca Film Festival, of Jeff's bicycling and volleyballing prowess, and a Pitch Me movie idea involving Judi Dench and time travel. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs005.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 4

Jeff Bayer was in Hawaii, so Eric D. Snider's pal Andy Blubaugh, a Portland filmmaker, fills in for this week's show. Andy even did his homework by seeing the J-Lo movie "The Back-Up Plan" with Eric, a mistake he won't repeat any time soon. Eric's review of "The Losers" is also a downer. Andy's own film, "The Adults in the Room," is also discussed, and it is agreed (by Eric, anyway) that Eric plays the most important role in the film. [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs004.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 3

Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider both agree "Kick-Ass" is a good old violent time in the third episode of “Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider.” [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs003.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 2

"Date Night" gets approval from both Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider in this, the second episode of "Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider." [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs002.mp3]

  • Movie B.S. - Episode 1

In their premiere episode, Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider rip on "Clash of the Titans" (especially its cheap 3-D) and Miley Cyrus' "The Last Song." [audio:http://moviebs.cascadiaaudio.com/moviebs001.mp3]
