The Departed

October 14th, 2006 by Sam

What do you get when you have a big name movie with huge stars an excellent director and a storyline that is basically like the season of The Mole on TV. The Departed. Not a bad film, but it just seemed like these stories have been done before. The whole movie is basically one rat in the mob one rat in the police department and how their lives take place in the middle of it all. Though some interesting twists and high caliber of acting it just feels like more of the same over and over again. Dont' get me wrong I liked this movie but, there comes a point where this movie seemed to have the possibility to open up and become more and it never does.

New thoughts
After having had sometime to mill the movies idea in my head, I began to feel more fulfilled with the story. It was more original than I first gave it credit, and gave us the interesting insight of two moles on each side trying to avoid detection and did a wonderful job telling the tale.

Quick Review
Plot/Storyline
Scorcese delievers and very well, he knows this genre.

Acting/Characters
Top notch, that's what you can have if you have a big budget.
10
Visuals/Sound
Adequate when there was music. Sound was there when it needed to be. Same with camera work it was there.

Replay
I still feel that knowing the end will make it easy to watch again. But DVD extras might not be too bad. I hope for a blooper reel.
