Apology and new releases!

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007 by Brent

Hey everyone, I want to apologize for the lack of reviews around here. Since Sam and myself do this for fun, we are pretty selective about which films we review and we have to be pretty interested to lay down the cash. And lately, there just hasn't been very appealing films at the theaters.

This weekend that is going to change though! The big releases this week are The Astronaut Farmer, The Number 23, and Reno 911: Miami. I will definitely review one of these this weekend and it will most likely be The Number 23. So check back later this weekend for a review on that.

In other news, I've been thinking that the site needs a better design and I plan to start that sometime this weekend as well. The content will all be the same, but I want something more visually appealing, so that's something to look forward to...for me anyway, most of you probably don't care.

And finally, I did rent Jesus Camp last week and thought about writing a review, but ultimately decided that I would drag too many other thoughts and rants into the review as opposed to actually reviewing the film. All I'll say is this, Jesus Camp is categorized as a documentary, but I think it would also fit well in the horror genre because it truly terrified me.

That's all folks.

Wednesday and Friday Releases plus a few other things.

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007 by Brent

Hello party people, sorry for the lack of updates and reviews. There just hasn't been many films that have interested me the past couple of weeks, and unfortunately it looks like that trend will continue with this weeks new releases.

Opening tomorrow is Music & Lyrics and Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls which both look to take advantage of the holiday to bring in those ticket sales. Judging from our early review of Music & Lyrics by Louis Otto, you might want to think twice on that one.

This Friday's big releases include Ghost Rider, Breach, and Bridge to Terabithia. Studios have kept critics from being able to screen Ghost Rider before release, which usually indicates that the studio has no faith in the film and thinks it's a turd. Normally I wouldn't think about seeing it then, but I'm a comic geek, so I might give in. Breach, a film based on true events in which the FBI nailed a traitorous agent for selling information to the Russians, seems to be doing okay on Rotten Tomatoes, but I might hold out for a rent. And finally Bridge to Terabithia looks to be geared towards the younger audience and in that respect it looks like it might be entertaining for the whole family, but once again I'm not too interested.

I'll tell you what I can't wait for though...300.

And I believe Ain't it Cool News' own Neil Cumpston sumed up it up best:

"I can’t spoil the plot because THANK GOD THERE ISN’T ONE. Just ass kicking that kicks ass that, while said ass is getting kicked, is kicking yet more ass that’s hitting someone’s balls with a hammer made of ice but the ice is frozen whiskey."

Awesome. Is it March 9th yet?

We have an early review of Music & Lyrics, a romantic comedy that hits theaters this Valentines Day, now up thanks to guest reviewer, Louisa Otto. Louisa scored tickets to an early screening and was kind enough to write up a review for Movie BS. So check it out under my name in the review section and thanks to Louisa for the review.

It's a sad day in the history of cinema.
